SETTIMA is proud to announce that it will provide its PUMPS CONTINUUM® for the operation of the cabin for the passage of people with disabilities on the famous Calatrava bridge, the fourth bridge over the Grand Canal in Venice.
This bridge is the pride of modern Venetian architecture, designed by the internationally renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, will soon have a system of automatic transport of people with disabilities.

The cabin, which will bring a disabled wheelchair and a companion, will be placed in a concrete underground chamber at the foot of the bridge, and will be raised at the pavement level with a telescopic oildynamic piston, which will put it on a platform anchored to the device to rack up two rails on the side of the bridge and attached to the ribs. The cabin will be powered by four electric motors and guided by a computer with triple redundancy (but it will always be possible mechanical intervention); at the end of the trail, which will last seven to eight minutes, the cabin after the unloading of passengers, will be sent down in the underground chamber at the other end of the bridge.
The statements of the Authorities certifying the project confirm this. The translating device which will allow the cabin to travel on the side of the bridge toward the lagoon, is such as to ensure maximum comfort to passengers, both the noise, and vibration during transit are virtually nil. The quietness of the system is ensured by the use of pumps Continuum® from SETTIMA.
